Facebook Becoming A Junkyard

Junk mail aka spam flooding in our email perhaps is very common. But lately, spam also likes to visit social network sites such as Facebook or MySpace.

According to Sfgate, a lot of Facebook member reported that they have received a massive commercial message that ask them to do things such as download ringtone or buy male enhancement drugs. These sort of messages are coming from their friends who are also member of the site, but they also linked to lots of commercial sites.

The cases of someone’s profile in social network site been hijacked and used as spam farming are often happen. According to Derek Manky, a security researcher in Fortinet, spammers are paid by related companies.

Spam is really a pain in the neck at anytime. If we have our email flooded with spam for years, now in social network sites we have to deal with the same problem. Facebook has realize this and they have warned member for not to click any suspicious link. Since a couple years ago, Facebook has welcome software applications developed outside Facebook. According to data, there are more than 200,000 applications that can be inserted in Facebook, and this can be a way to spread spam too.

    I agree with you.I receive a lot of useless invitations on Facebook.Facebook has to be strict on the number and quality of applications that they allow on their platform.
