Facebook Sued A Porn Site USD 500,000

A porn site has agreed to pay Facebook USD 500,000. The reason why this site has to pay Facebook USD 500,000 is because the site is trying to breach into Facebook security and steal its user personal information.

Facebook sued that pornography site, SlickCash tried to access personal information from Facebook’s users. For two weeks period in June 2007, the company which is located in Ontario, Canada, had tried to access Facebook server for at least 200 thousand times.

Quoted from Canadianpress, besides they agreed to pay USD 500,000 to Facebook, SlickCash and some people involved in this site agreed not to become Facebook’s member for 10 years. They agreed not to contacts Facebook members using personal information which they have got from Facebook website.

At present Facebook is so popular, it has approximately 34 millions users in the world. With Facebook, users can easily posted photos, personal information such as date of birth, address, e-mail, phone numbers and so on.

Young Cracker To Be Recruited By Police

This cracker, even still in his young age, has already capable to organize cyber attack in a global scale. He was also able to escape his punishment because some people were afraid that jail punishment will make his rare ability in cracking internet disappear.

The cracker is Owen Thor Walker (18) has found guilty of his participation in international cyber crime network. However, New Zealand court house had just release him.

According to the judge of this case, Judith Potter, Owen’s main motivation was not to do crimes, but just to show his rare ability. The judge also admit his skill and he also proven to have a great potential in the future if given a good lead.

The court finally knew that Owen has accepted a job offer from a foreign company. Even the New Zealand police wants to use his skill in the internet world. Owen himself refused to comment about his release. According to the cop, Owen who has an online name ‘Akill’ helped cyber crime network spreading viruses or cracking users internet access identity all over the world.

Nazi Emblem Has Made Google Appologize

The official emblem of the Nazi party, is still a controversial topic until now to some people. Because of that, it is a bit surprising when not so long ago, Swastika symbol is on top of Google Hot Trends list in USA for a couple hours before then disappears.

This thing was mysterious why Swastika can be on the top of the chart? Google even had to apologize about this matter. As quoted from LATimes, they also realize that the symbol is still very sensitive for particular people.

Internet users around the world was shocked when they know that the most searched item in Google was Swastika symbol. Usually, what are listed in the list are something about what recently happen and being hot topics. A lot of theories are coming about the appearance of the symbol in USA Google Hot Trends. Google itself has already doing some analysis about it.

The Google spokeperson claimed that an HTML code of Swastika was being posted in a popular bulletin board, which made the search about Swastika jumped up then showed up in the top list of Hot Trends.

The Oldest Blogger Passed Away

Blogging has been an addiction not only for young people, but the old ones as well. Like what happen with this Australian woman who is said to be the oldest blogger in the world, Olive Riley, is really loves to blog. She wrote about her life experience in the internet.

Not so long ago, Olive passed away at the age of 108 years. This news has made her friends from around the world grieved. She passed away at an old folks’ home.

Olive has posted around 70 entries in her blog since February 2007. Some of the entries told stories about her experience, such as when she faced the world war in the past. In her last posting on 26 June, She complaint about her cough that got worse, and she also thanks everyone around the world who give lots of attention in her blog and her email. In one blog that covered her post, worldsoldestblogger.blogspot.com now you can see, ‘Oue dear friend Olive Riley passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12. She will be mourned by thousands of Internet friends and hundreds of descendants and other relatives.’

US$152 million Budget, Europe Ready To Beat US in the Internet

Since Google, a search engine in the Internet is so dominant; many other parties are trying to beat Google. These days Uni Europe via Europe Commission, agrees to give budget of US$ 152 million in France. This budget is used to help the mission of ‘Quaero’, a search engine, to beat Google.

The ‘Quaero’ project or in Latin means ‘I am looking’, involves 23 companies with the technology company leader from France, Thomson. However since limited on the budget, this project didn’t grow. The reason is in their first five years, they need more than 199 million Euro. France was only able to give half of the total expense.

Europe Commission party says that after doing an analysis thoroughly, ‘Quaero’ project will bring a lot of benefits to the people. Thus, they are willing to give helps. This ambitious ‘Quaero’ project started in 2005. The France President at that time was Jacques Chirac, came with the idea to beat Google supreme. As quoted from AFP, France at first worked together with the German in this ‘Quaero’ project. However, German then separate themselves and make their own search engine named ‘Theseus’

PDF Becomes International Standard

International Organizasion for Standardization (ISO) has announced that Portable Document Format as known as PDF from Adobe is now become an international standard.

PDF is a digital document format which its popularity has keep arising. According to Adobe, there are 2000 PDF developers and billions of PDF files used around the world.

By becoming an international standard, Adobe hands the control of PDF to ISO in ISO’s International Standard 32000-1. ISO will be responsible to publish the specification of the newest version of PDF, which is version 1.7 and also next version’s development. Adobe is hoping that PDF format will be used more by people, especially governments and big companies.

Firefox 3 Has Officially Break The Record

After waiting for a while, Firefox has officially brake the record as the most downloaded software for 24 hours after launching. Guinness book World of Record as the one who noted the record, has officially announced this Mozilla browser success.

As we’ve known, for 24 hours non-stop on 18th of June, Firefox 3 has been downloaded by 8,002,530 people around the world. But soon after that, Guinness didn’t crown Firefox 3 with its record straightaway. Because the juries have to verify to make sure that the record which were Mozilla was trying to break with its Firefox 3 is really valid.

For sure Mozilla is very proud with the title they have been given. And they also say thanks to Mozilla community for their support and participation in helping Firefox 3 getting the Guinness record. I myself am a big fan of Firefox browser and have downloaded this new version of Firefox. Have you?

Internet Crimes Threaten World Economy

Cybercrime increases every year can cause to United Europe Economics problem. For example, spam/junk mails has made the business over there lost about 56 euro each year.

This was declared by the European Network Information Security Agency (ENISA). Therefore serious actions need to be done urgently. If not, then this will have more and more affect threats for Europe countries.

The ENISA warning is supported by the AVG Technologies computer security vendor who released their survey on 7000 computer users in Europe. From this survey, 22 percents respondents have experienced this cybercrime where Italian is on the top position followed by England.

AVG underlined that the growth of cybercrime is effected by the Internet high usage for monetary transaction and the low responsibility for securities from computer users.

The fact, 18 percent computer in the Europe houses are not protected by anti virus software. Whilst, 38 percent computer users think that information on cyber crime are very little. Therefore, we need a real efforts for fighting the Internet crime.
