What is the future cellphone model like? The largest cellphone producer in the world, Nokia, is now working hard to predict what the future cell phone would be like to fulfill customers’ needs. Nokia is supposed not to be relaxed in this tight competition in the cell phone market, such as to beat Samsung or Apple. Nokia has introduced its latest E series, which are E66 and E71. Rumor said that E71 was made to compete with BlackBerry because it is optimized for personal and professional email usages. Both E66 and E71 were made to ease its user in email handling.

A Million Units of iPhone Have Been Sold In 3 Days

iPhone 3G made an excellent debut in its early presence. In 3 days the phone have been sold around a million units in some countries. Even Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs admitted that he could not believe that his new product can become that popular. Iphone 3G has attracted so much attentions in its week debut.

It took around 74 days to sell a million units of iPhone first generation. This iPhone 3G has made an amazing start around the world. It is true if we compare with its predecessor, iPhone 3G has so much more achievement. This is because iPhone first generation can only be sold around 270,000 units in its early debut.

However, we should remember that when iPhone 3G launched in the market, it was launched in some countries such as Japan, Hongkong, USA, and New Zealand at one time. While the predecessor, when it was born only been sold in United States and bundled with AT&T contract.

Moreover, the success of iPhone 3G debut doesn’t mean that everything went really well. This is related with global connection problem between iTunes server with AT&T network resulting the smartphone couldn’t be activated.

iPhone 3G Launching, Not As Smooth As It Seems

The Apple latest touchscreen phone have been officially sold at the same time on July, 11th. First buyers who had waited and slept in front of the Apple Store in Fifth Avenue, New York, was disappointed. The new iPhone 3G they bought could not be used right after they left the Apple because the gadget was not performing correctly. This issue is connected to global problem between iTunes server and AT&T so the iPhone can’t be activated.

Apple has already planned that iPhone 3G buyer can buy the gadget and able to use it right away. But this might only be a dream. Because they already have a very long queue, the store employees have asked the athusiasts to activate their iPhone manually by connecting it to an online computer.

Even Baby Is Lining Up for Iphone 3G

On 11th June, iPhone 3G will be sold in U.S. Market. To be the first users, iPhone lovers have already queuing in front of the Apple store in New York from today.

There are at least 10 people who camped in front of Apple store, from 4th of July which is the independence day. They were bringing ransom such as tent, sleeping bag, food, and drinks.

Even some parents were seen bringing their children along in queue. What is so shocking to me, is that there is a couple of parents who brought their 6 months old daughter.

Even they claimed that they are not sure yet to bring the baby camping along with them, but for hours waiting in front of the store is one odd view. The parents have also prepared the baby trolley in case the baby wants to sleep. They said to the reporter that they are queuing in front of Apple store to participate in breaking the world record ‘Longest queue for a merchandise’. The enthusiasts even made a website called waitingforapples.com and express how enthusiastic they are with iPhone 3G so they wanted to break the world longest queue record only for iPhone 3G.

Motorola ZN 200, Music on Your Hand

The design of this sliding form factor phone is excellent. On closed mode, ZN200 looks very compact and simple with a 2.2 inch screen which dominate all the front display of this cellphone.

The keypad is hidden in the inside of the phone, and will only be visible when the front part of the phone slides upward. On the front display you will find a jog dial and four keys right on the sides. The rumor is that the phone will have 2megapixel camera and also equipped with radio and mp3 player.

ZN200 also has 30MB internal memory and 1GB capacity of memory card. ZN200 also supports web and email features. Other features presented are USB connection, Crystal Talk technology and it will operate in 3G GSM network. Nothing on the detail information from Motorola about ZN200 which the launching plan of this phone is around September 2008 with a price of US$310.

One Billion Cellphones Can Spread Toxic On Earth

The mobile technology is growing really fast and new models of cellphones are coming out continuously. This trend makes people change their cellphone more rapidly, which brings an inevitable negative effects. Around one billion used cellphones in United States are potentially poisoned mother earth. This shocking data was published by CollectiveGood, a cellphone recycling company in USA.

People in USA have an average of 3.5 unused used-phones. Users of mobile phone in US, which are around 257 million contribute 155 million used phones that ready to be thrown to trash bin every year. According to CollectiveGood, this trend makes around one billion used phones potentially piling up the earth.

This amount is really amazing thus if we do not put it into account, it can poison soil component, water and air in century time. It happens because when we throw away the phones, its poisoning material such as mercury or arsenic is released to environment. To handle this problem, CollectiveGood is making sure that used phones have to be dealt carefully to minimize their effect to the environment.

Nokia Tube, Nokia’s Answer to Apple iPhone?

The success of Apple iPhone in the market quickly gets a response from other cellular phone producers, including Nokia. Although it is not official yet, at the Evans Data Developer Relations Conference in Redwood City - California, Tom Libretto (Vice President of Nokia Forum) explained that at present Nokia is focusing on developing a touch screen Symbian cellular phone.

Unlike iPhone, this  “Tube” cell phone, with 3.5inches touch screen (16:9) can be operated with fingers, and stylus for handwriting recognition. Also available vibration feedback feature to increase interaction aspect with its user. This quadband cellphone that supports this multitouch function provides several wireless connectivity, such as GPRS, UMTS, HSDPA, WLAN and Bluetooth. GPS Navigation and autofocus camera
facility is also adopted by this cellphone.

This Tube cellphone is predicted to be launched during the first quarter in 2009. Until now, Nokia has not given the retail price. Other producer , iPhone Apple second generation will also be launched soon this year. Will Tube be the truth “iPhone killer”? We’ll see

CommunicAsia 2008; Take a Peek At iPhone Rivals

CommunicAsia Expo in Singapore has been a battlefield for iPhone rivals. Each of them has shown up their superiority against iPhone. There are at least 3 types of new phone that are believed can compete with iPhone, they are Samsung Omnia, Garmin Nuvifone, and HTC Touch Diamond.

Samsung, a cellular company from Korea, has Omnia as their line up. Equipped with 3.2 inch touchscreen, Omnia also has minimalist design just like iPhone, and off course, a touchscreen GPS navigation.

While Garmin, which has been known as Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment producer, takes the CommunicAsia visitors’ eyes with their Nuvifone. This touchscreen phone also looks like iPhone too. However, Garmin has officially claimed that Nuvifone is not an iPhone competitor. They would rather call it a navigation phone, because it has an excellent GPS ability.

On the other side, HTC Touch Diamond already came in the market a while ago . It also has a touchscreen navigation that  iPhone introduced. Even a newspaper in Indonesia called The Strait Times called HTC Touch Diamond as the first phone that can get close to iPhone ability.

Nokia has offered access to download cool songs in Sony BMG label a whole year for free. Is it too good to be true?

It turns out that those two giant companies are partnering in launching a new music mobile from Nokia called “Comes With Music”. Sony BMG is one of the biggest music label in the world that has worked together with well-known musicians such as Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, and Celine Dion.

The download scheme which Nokia offers, is different from previous offer package. User of this Nokia phone can download and save songs they have downloaded for twelve months. This method is believed to be a breakthrough as music market now has battling hard on selling CDs

Nokia itself hopes that all big labels will follow Sony’s track to become Nokia’s partner in selling ‘Comes With Music’ phone. We have a big confidence that all labels will join us. For now, we are processing those negotiations, said Liz Schimel, Head Of Nokia Music Business.

Nokia N78, Bring Online Community In Your Hand

Nokia just announced Nokia N78, multimedia computer that claimed has bundle of music, navigation and photography with mobile facility.

Many new technologies promised by Nokia in N78, including integrated A-GPS, free Nokia Maps, WLAN and high speed HSDPA 3G, 3.2 mega pixel camera with Carl Zeiss optic lens, and microSD memory card support up to 2GB.

Nokia claimed the greatness of N78 is on location tagging, a process to add geographic identification such as coordinate. It means, automatically can give tag on picture with location metadata, thus enable user to view information of the picture taken place whether from map or by online.

Another ability is the high speed internet connection, WLAN or HSDPA. User can upload photo and video to social community sites, such as Flickr with one touch.
