Dreamworks Animation SKG, the animation studio who was behind the movie Kungfu Panda, has chosen to shift to computers with Intel based microprocessor, while before they were using AMD. Around 2500 computers will be replaced.
Precisely, Dreamworks will replace around 1.500 servers and 1000 AMD based Hewlett Packard (HP) workstation computers. As quoted from Reuters, the replacement computers will still be Hewlett Packard but in intel based.
This change has to be done because Dreamworks want to be focus on 3 dimension (3D) animation which require faster speed and greater processor ability. The first movie that processed with this latest 3D animation technology will be released in 2009 called “Monster vs Aliens”.
